New landscape painting ‘Sunlit Breath’

My larger paintings on canvas and paper capture the mood of a place ‘in that one moment in time’.

The inspiration comes from nature but the interpretation is from my own feeling and the sense of the mood, colour and space in the light.

I then use the brushstrokes to create movement and atmosphere and develop the texture of the painting, which varies considerably between canvas and paper

‘Sunlit Breath’ is acrylic on canvas at 27.5 x 25.5 cms.

The larger but fewer brushstrokes convey the movement on the sunlit horizon. Sometimes all it takes is a few strokes of colour to emulate the effect of light in the sky and the wisps of clouds are impressionistic. Its an interpretation as much for me as it is for you viewing the painting.

Sometimes then the more colours I use increasing the brushstrokes captures further the sense of space within the shadows and light.
