New landscape painting ‘Twilight Ebb’

I painted this during the summer months when we did have some good weather. It’s 60 x 60 cms acrylic on stretched canvas.

The evening was hot and sultry and then sun seemed to hang in the air very slowly slipping down towards the horizon. Just at the point it tipped beyond, the last of the top of the sun blended with a beautiful orange glow on the horizon lifting the pink clouds into the blue and greys in the sky, with the landscape below becoming almost entirely immersed in shadow.

Larger brushstrokes achieved all the blending to effect the soft textures of the scene and the cadence of the sunset colours with just a little texture worked into the horizon shadows.
