New landscape painting ‘Spellbound Evening’

This 80 x 60cm painting is from my recent works inspired by the light, colour and texture in the landscape during the long days at this time of year. I really like the warmth in the sky gently moving downward.

I love to capture a perfect sunset in that fleeting moment in time capturing the shadows that form from the ever changing light and colour. The soft peachy colours and the subtle red tones almost form their own summer rainbow above the landscape as the gently moving clouds move in the warm air.

The impressionist style is made up of a series of layers particularly in the painting of the sky. I used large brushes to achieve maximum blending with soft textures to create movement with the sunset colours worked into the horizon shadows.
