My new acrylic landscape painting ‘Shadow’s Breath’

‘Shadow's Breath’ - 23.5 x 22 cms - Acrylic on canvas

This is one of my more abstract smaller paintings using much bolder and significant brushstrokes.

Sometimes when you have put all your colours out randomly on the palette you never quite know what is going to start to appear. You might have something in mind but sometimes the sheer spontaneity and the flow takes over but as long as you are happy with the result it can be enormously satisfying.

On this occasion the spontaneity came quickly resulting in a flow, movement and energy in this painting.

I love the touch of orange, white and green on the horizon bringing just that right amount of light to pull the painting together. By layering up the brushstrokes the shadows in both the sky and foreground really created ‘Shadow’s Breath’.
