Introducing my next two sunset studies ‘Balmy Sunset’ and ‘Sunset Chill’ from my new collection.
‘Sunset Chill’
Acrylic on handmade paper- 21.5 x 19.5 cms
This painting is part of my new series of small sunset studies and is painted on wood which I have not done in a while, so it is nice to come back to it.
It came together quite quickly which is always a good thing. The colours were left over from a larger canvas completed earlier in the day.
The touches of red, orange and purple in the sky give an indication of the evening colours to come a little later. I love the touches of brighter orange and white on the horizon showing that the day has not quite given up yet.
‘Balmy Sunset’
Acrylic on handmade paper - 21.5 x 19.5 cms
This painting is similar to ‘Sunset Chill’ above but almost like a time lapse as the sunset is now stronger reflecting the colours from the evening sky and creating shadows on the foreground below.
It was based on another evening walk across the bridge at Kingston-upon-Thames looking toward Hampton Court as the colours of the sunset began to shroud the sky but with the light staying around long enough to say goodbye.
I love how my brushstrokes and the textures change very slightly from painting to painting.
Look out for the next one…….
Soon to be added on to my new work page.
