Introducing my new series of sunset studies…….

This is ‘Gilded Sunset’.

This painting is part of my new series of small sunset studies and is painted in my semi-abstract style in acrylic on canvas.

I really enjoyed painting this small landscape. It just seemed to flow so easily and to be honest so quickly too.

Some paintings have many lives before I finally am happy with them but this one just happened so naturally.

The glimmer of light on the horizon with the touches of orange brushstrokes and a couple of strokes of white gives the impression of the last light in the night sky with the light blue and touches of rusty orange coming through the clouds.

I think that gradual colour change really works and it has inspired me to start working on a larger canvas with a similar composition.
