I love painting small studies on paper as it’s so spontaneous and the immediate flow of the painting really has an energy.

With these beautiful landscape paintings I really like the freedom with the brushstrokes and experimenting with the colour palette and it is a perfect ‘let off steam moment’ between painting larger canvases.

In fact they do inspire me to be confident with the larger work which of course takes just that little bit longer.
