Sunset Flares Abstract Landscape Painting by Mary Burtenshaw

‘Sunset Flares’ - 23.5 × 23.5 cms - Acrylic on canvas

This landscape painting ‘Sunset Flares’ was sold to a private collector. It is always good when a painting finds a new home.

I used a slightly different colour palette than usual and just had fun with the movement and colour blending.

It has a lovely sunset feel to it and I love the red on the horizon and the stroke of orange creating the colours of the setting sun. The slightly blurred colours from the foreground into the sky create a lot of depth and the flecks of white on the horizon just pull everything together.

This painting set me thinking that I need to keep fresh and use a freedom in my painting by sometimes using a different composition and colours.

However, it is still good to look back at some sold work and get inspiration.

So a little looking back and a lot of looking forward inspires spontaneity.
