This new painting ‘Ochre Skies’ is part of my latest collection and can be seen on my New Paintings’ page.

The series studies the light of sunrises and sunsets at this time of year with beautiful colours especially in this painting the pink and the slight glimmer of blue sky pepping through.

I really enjoyed painting this and using a lot of colours that would not normally blend together but I really think they do, resulting in the the title of ‘Ochre Skies’.

Ochre Skies Abstract Landscape Painting by Mary Burtenshaw

‘Ochre Skies’ 23 × 21.5 cms

The sky has a lovely glow with the use of orange and pinks and of course ochre.

The smaller touches of yellow and red on the horizon give detail and movement.

The misty greens and greys on either side of the horizon blend into the colours of the sky and pull the painting together creating low light as evening begins.

This painting would brighten any large or small space in the home or office.
