One of my favourite landscape paintings ‘Sunset Samba’

‘Sunset Samba’

Acrylic on paper - 24 x 20 cms

This is definitely one of my favourites. The colours have a flow about them and almost a musical quality. I wish I could remember what music I was listening to at the time, as music can influence my mood and then the brushstrokes follow that mood.

It was very spontaneous and not deliberate at all in the use of colour.

Imagine a print at this size!

I wanted to get the light on the horizon so I used the bright strokes of orange and yellow and the wash of peach coming in from the right to blend into the white.

The wispy clouds were created with bold brushstrokes of white.

Artwork can be printed to any size!

I had to work quickly as acrylic dries very rapidly on paper so the spontaneity is knowing what colours to keep and what colours to blend away.
