Spellbound Evening by Mary Burtenshaw

‘Spellbound Evening’ - 80 x 60 cms - acrylic on canvas

I painted this after an early summer’s evening sunset just seemed to hang in the sky for ages.

I titled it ‘Spellbound Evening’ as it was unforgettable how slowly the sunset arrived but also how slowly it evolved seeming to hang in the sky for a couple of hours, just mesmerising.

I have aimed to convey the stillness in the atmosphere with virtually no breeze to move the clouds and break up the colours in the sky, and also change the shadows on the ground.

The texture in the paint is quite light to reflect the stillness, and the blending is soft to add to that effect.

This painting ‘Spellbound Evening’ is currently in the ‘Last Supper Gallery’ in Battersea in London (https://www.the-lastsupper.com)

It is an unframed stretched canvas at 80 x 60 cms (please enquire about the price and further information).
